Entebbe Municipality leaders and stakeholders gathered on March 13, 2025, to witness the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated 4.3-kilometer Kitooro-Kiwafu-Nakiwogo road project. The event was officiated by His Worship the Mayor of Entebbe, Fabrice Brad Rulinda, alongside the Under Secretary for the Ministry of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs.
In his address, Mayor Rulinda underscored the importance of the road upgrade and urged the contractor, Armpass Ltd, to deliver high-quality work on the dual carriageway. He emphasized that the project would enhance mobility, boost economic activities, and improve the overall infrastructure of Entebbe Municipality.
The Under Secretary highlighted the necessity of timely project execution, stressing the importance of the Performance for Results Model under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Program (GKMA-UDP). She emphasized that entities must meet performance benchmarks to secure further funding for infrastructure investments.
She also expressed gratitude to the local leadership, technical teams, and the community for their cooperation in ensuring the successful commencement of the project.
The Town Clerk of Entebbe Municipality, Mr. Mugisha Emmanuel Gacharo, extended his appreciation to the Government of Uganda under the leadership of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for its commitment to developing Entebbe’s infrastructure.
Eng. George Bwanga, the project coordinator, reaffirmed the project’s commitment to environmental and social safeguards, ensuring that the construction process adheres to sustainable practices.
The Kitooro-Kiwafu-Nakiwogo road upgrade is expected to enhance accessibility, ease congestion, and promote economic development in the municipality. With work now underway, residents eagerly anticipate the transformation that will come with this critical infrastructure investment.
